How Taylor Swift made a huge difference in the 2023 polls

Oh, Taylor sure did influence you. In the hours after Taylor Swift urged her 273 million Instagram followers to check their voter registration status on Tuesday, September 19, Vote.org received record-breaking traffic.

Vote.org CEO Andrea Hailey told HELLO! in a press release that “record-breaking traffic to our site this week as we celebrated National Voter Registration Day is a highly encouraging sign of voter enthusiasm especially among newly eligible voters.” The site saw “a 1226% jump in participation the hour after Taylor Swift posted,” and was “averaging 13,000 users every 30 minutes – a number that Taylor Swift would be proud of,” she added.
According to popular belief, Taylor’s lucky number is 13.

More than 35,000 people were added to the voter rolls by the non-partisan group after the post, a 22.5% increase from the previous year; in addition, the group assisted 50,000 people in verifying their registration.

With this newfound energy, Vote.org is accelerating its efforts to register eight million more voters by Election Day 2024. Young people’s activities on college campuses, influencer engagement, radio, digital, social media, and direct voter contacts have all kicked off our registration drive. It’s time to channel all this excitement into actual votes because the 2024 election is here,” Hailey said.

Are you ready for something even crazier? When compared to 2021, this number has increased by 849 percent. The enthusiasm of this generation to contribute is revolutionary,” Hailey wrote on social media.

In the words of one expert, “They are the future, and their energy will shape the outcomes of upcoming elections.”
